The Art of Willow Sculpture: A Timeless Craft Rooted in Nature

There’s something truly magical about shaping natural materials into something full of life. For me, willow sculpture is more than a craft — it’s a way of storytelling.

Each piece I create begins with the simple act of weaving. The willow tells me what it wants to become — sometimes a wild fox, other times a delicate bird or a whimsical woodland figure. I use traditional techniques but always follow instinct. My hands know the rhythm now, and the process feels as natural as walking through the woods.

Willow weaving has a long history in Britain, used for baskets and fences, but I love exploring its more expressive side. It’s flexible, strong, and full of movement. There’s life in every branch — you just have to listen.

If you're curious to see what that looks like, take a wander through my Gallery. Every sculpture has its own quiet story.
