About Me…

Hello, I'm a willow sculptor based in Lytham St. Annes. I've been working with willow for over 15 years, creating sculptures inspired by nature, movement, and imagination.

My journey started quite simply - with a basket-making class. I never expected to fall in love with the material, but something about the way willow bends and weaves together caught my attention. From early on, I was more drawn to the possibilities of sculpture - to creating form, character, and life from this natural material.

These days, I build larger pieces using metal armatures for strength, then carefully weave layers of pre-soaked willow until the shape takes on a life of its own. It's a slow, thoughtful process, but there's a moment in each sculpture when the character starts to emerge - and that's what keeps me going.

I've had the chance to work on a range of commissions, from a life-sized elephant to community pieces for Ansdell in Bloom, including a figure of Richard Ansdell outside the local library. I also really enjoy teaching and have run willow sculpture workshops at Lytham Hall.

Willow is a beautiful, versatile, and sustainable material. It's fast-growing and renewable, making it an eco-friendly choice for sculpture. The texture and tones of natural willow bring warmth and character to each piece, and it blends seamlessly into garden spaces and natural environments. Working with willow is a way to stay connected to the land while creating something lasting and expressive.

Whether I'm working on a big public piece or something more personal, I feel very fortunate to be doing what I love.
